“I was calling to see if it was okay with you if I invited my friend to the party?” he said. “Your female friend?” she asked. “Yeah, would you have a problem with that?” he asked. “Yes I would,” she said. “Why?” he asked. “Because, I don’t know her,” she replied. “Well, I’ll introduce y’all at the party,” he said. “No,” she said. “And why not?” he asked. “Okay, you asked and I said no, now what’s the fucking problem,” she replied. “You need to get over us; aren’t you doing Nick now,” he stated. “Trust me Anthony; I’ve been over us and it’s none of your damn business who I’m doing. I just don’t want her to my house. If we were having the party somewhere else, then I could care less if she comes, but it’s at my house, so no,” she said and hung up the phone. He called her right back, but she didn’t even bother to answer. Jackie was hot with Anthony. She wasn’t upset at the fact that he has a new girlfriend, she was upset at the fact that he wanted to bring her into her house and she’s never met her. Anthony’s under the impression that Jackie still wants him, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Jackie holds no ill will towards him, but you can’t convince Anthony of that. He thinks that Jackie hates him. She doesn’t hate him, but she doesn’t love him any more either. Jackie ordered the cake and stormed out the door. When she got in the car she called Kay. Kay is that kind of best friend that can put out a fire, but she can also ignite one too. She and Jackie are total opposites and that’s what worked in their favor and kept them best friends for all these years. Jackie told Kay everything that happened. “Well, this is going to be an interesting party,” Kay said. “Tell me about it,” Jackie said. “What would make him think that you would agree to something like that?” Kay asked. “Your guess is as good as mine,” Jackie replied. “You know Nick being there is going to be a problem for him,” Kay said. “He’ll get over it,” Jackie said. “Just be ready for it. Your boyfriend is going to be there and not his girlfriend,” Kay said. “Kay look; if we were having this party anywhere else; I wouldn’t give a damn who he invited, but not at my house,” Jackie said. “I hear you and I understand you; Anthony is the one that doesn’t,” Kay said. “This makes me want to call off the whole damn party,” Jackie said. “No, don’t do that. This is for Autumn,” Kay said.

Give Me One Good Reason… is a tale of love, passion, and commitment, but yet there's betrayal, dishonesty, deception, and deceit. It gives you a twisted perception of a certain situation and then explodes into the unthinkable. But just when you think that all hope is gone, as we sometimes feel in life, there's a silver lining. That certain someone or something comes along and makes it all better. We can either accept certain situations, people, and things within our lives or we can let it go. We know that life isn't always as sweet as a bed of roses, but it doesn't have to be a bed of thorns either. Give Me One Good Reason is just that tale of failure to Faith. Life sometimes come with drama and dissatisfaction, but you don't have to deal with that and why would you want to. It's all about being happy and enjoying life to the fullest. Happiness starts with you and you only, other people may come along to enhance that happiness or add to it. Never let anyone determine your happiness, because they can be a part of your life one moment and decide to walk out the next.
About the Author
Avis P. Raines was born and raised in sunny South Florida. Avis is a Miami Native and the sixth child of seven children; as well as the first girl. Being the sister of five older brothers, Avis was surely under a watchful eye, being that all her brothers were ten years or more her senior. Avis grew up listening to music and singing. She had a thing for entertaining, so it wasn't surprising when she became a part of a local R&B singing group that went by the name of MEANT2B. Once Avis joined the group that's when her love for writing began. Avis soon found herself writing and arranging all of the group's songs. She wrote love ballads, pop, rap, and a little bit of country. Before you know it she found herself writing a song a day. It was then that she realized that writing was the thing for her. She had found her calling. Avis left the group a few years later to pursue her dream of writing. She then began to work on her first book; which was a book of poetry. Avis is now the author of three books: Occasionally Yours, Family Bond, and now her new release; Give Me One Good Reason..., and surely her sight is set on another one. Avis is a very passionate writer. Her first sign of interest in writing came about when she started writing poetry. Her new found love for writing poetry led her to branch out and peeked her interest in writing short stories, songs, and then novels. Avis utilizes her talent of writing to help others, as well as herself to cope with the dealings of every day life. Sometimes we can't always say the way we feel and we need someone to put it in words for us; that is where Avis comes in. She has been writing poetry and sentiments to and for friends and family for years and now she is sharing it with the world. She has a very eccentric imagination and can pull her readers into the characters of the story as if they were the person. She sure knows how to stir up emotions in this story and make you feel for or feel what the charcter is going through. She's a very sensitive and giving individual. So enjoy as she gives you, tears, chills, and emotions like that of no other writer.
