Daniel stirred. Finally his eyes opened and he became aware of the music. Still half asleep, he slowly stood up to see what was making this racket. He saw the light and the car. In seconds he saw the wild man dancing around it. 'He must be drunk,' he mumbled.
'Sorry, Daniel,' came the man's reply, 'I'm in no need of artificial stimulants. I find life itself is all the stimulation I need.'
Daniel had received his answer, but had heard nothing. The thoughts themselves were being put in his head. 'How very strange,' he said. 'Who is this man?'
Again the answer was unspoken. 'You know me as Satan, the Devil,' the voice in his head replied. 'Fate has caused our paths to cross, and I wanted you to share this moment with me. Business brings me to Earth, and for this particular job I need to be a real person. Not many have seen me like this. You should consider yourself most fortunate.' 'I think you're crazy,' Daniel replied. 'Before I leave you, my friend,' Satan said, ignoring Daniel's comment, 'I give you this promise. Someday I'll own this planet and everything and everyone on it. My business here today hopes to accelerate that inevitability. Until that day arrives I'll continue to build my base of loyal subjects. You may dislike me, despise me, and even hate me; that's quite all right. You haven't been tested yet. When you are, you'll realize the truth. And the plain and simple truth is that you're a failure. You'll know what it's like to taste personal defeat by my hand. Your life will never be easy. In time you'll come to doubt your own set of values, and your own beliefs. The day will come when you finally know in your heart that you aren't worthy of God, and hopelessness will totally consume you. On that day your despair will be great. Like a child who's just lost his parents, you'll call out to God to save you, but he won't answer. God isn't interested in your life only your soul. Then you'll know the harsh reality of this world. Nothing will ever be any different. Life on this planet is empty, always has been, always will be. When you realize this truth, I'll have you. I'll own you. Success will again be mine. One by one, day in and day out, I'll continue to capture the human spirit. No big battles, no mass conversions, I'll win this war one person at a time. When my day of glory arrives, you and all the others will know that, deep down inside, you've been serving me and not God. With tears and great tribulation you’ll take your place in my kingdom. So be it.'
Daniel stood transfixed. He knew this had to be a dream.

About the Book
Do you believe in God? Of course you do, it's easy, right? What if it wasn't so easy? What if you had to make a choice to bow down to Satan or die? Daniel Gilchrist and his followers are faced with just such a choice. An army of condemned criminals from another galaxy has invaded Earth. A stable wormhole connecting the two distant civilizations made it all possible, and Satan is only days away from total victory. Earth is lost. But even in defeat, Earth has one last heroic chance to deny Satan his eternal goal, to reign over the human race from God's Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
Against impossible odds, Daniel and 39 other defiant soldiers sneak a nuclear bomb out of Jerusalem with orders to detonate it when they get to Megiddo. Problem is, Satan already knows their plan and has an insider helping him prevent that from happening. If that wasn't enough, people begin to join their little group. Soon thousands upon thousands have joined their little party, and Daniel has an even more difficult decision to make. Blow the bomb on schedule and kill all these innocent people, or refuse and allow Satan to win.
What will Daniel do? What will Satan do? What will God do? The answer lies in three words: faith, hope and love. Share the adventure, and renew your own belief in God.
About the Author
Dennis Glawe is a family practice physician living in Decorah, Iowa. He grew up on a farm in northeast Iowa and still believes in the old-fashioned Christian values instilled by his parents during his youth.
During a Bible study course in 1985, he began to wonder about the riddles that are written in the book of Revelations. He also was curious as to the part Jesus will play in its unfolding. With a keen interest in science fiction and a vivid imagination, he thought about how science and religion might some day confirm and even prove the part God plays in our lives. This book is the result of three years of putting these ideas together on paper.
Dr. Glawe continues to practice medicine in northeast Iowa, where he has lived since 1983. He is a graduate of Central High in Elkader, Iowa. He graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1977 and completed a three year residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center near Augusta, Georgia, in 1980. He lives in Decorah with his wife Marcia, and daughter Erin. John, their 16-year-old autistic son, lives in a residential facility in Charles City.
Besides writing, Dennis enjoys reading, computers, and photography.
