If possible it grew even darker and quieter. Everyone had left. There were just lots and lots of ponies in the rows and rows of stables all by themselves. There was silence. Suddenly, Patric looked up. The door was opening. At first he thought it was Tom come to check on them. The shadowy figures had bright flashlights. A voice whispered, "yes, get them both." A bright light fell for an instant on the speaker's face. Patric never forgot that face, the long hollow cheeks and the sunken eyes. All the hairs on his long neck stood on end. The dark figure's companion was a woman and she was moving towards Deedee with a halter and a rope. "Come along, nice pony," she said.

About the Book
Drumlin, an old horse, stolen years ago,is found and returned to the meadow. He tells them stories of his life and keeps repeating, "Beware of men with whips," and "friendship is more important than blue ribbons." Patric and Deedee learn the value of Drumlin's words when an attempt is made at a Show to steal them too. Read how Patric is able to save them and all the ponies by following something he discovers, "it was like a shimmering flow, a carpet that floated sometimes on the ground and sometimes above it." Read what happens to Deedee and how she discovers that friendship is so much more important than blue ribbons.
About the Author
Lin Edmonds lives in California with her husband, four dogs and two ponies. She was inspired to write these stories for her grandchildren by Patric, a special pony with a sense of humor.
