When a grandfather helps his grand son go to sleep, he answers his grandson's questions about his family's roots. The old man explains what happened to his ancestors on their way from Africa to America. While the granfather talks to his grandson about the trip of his daugther Patty Thompson, and her husband to the Dominican Republic, such trip becomes the genesis of the epic described in this novel. Hard work and humiliation become part of the norm in the sugar cane plantation where Paty and her husband created the new family generation. This new generation was formed by five children and each one of these children had different life expectation. However, this is the generation that helps mutate the family's life predicament by helping the family in gaining more control of their lives

Then received a BA degree in Criminology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and currently works as a Fair Hearing Advocate for the City of New York. As an author, he is publishing his second novel using the services of authorhouse publishing.
