All of a sudden, a uniformed cop rushed up the steps, tripped and fell right in the middle of the kitchen floor. When he jumped up, he was surrounded by about screaming family members. He pulled out a can of mace. “Get back” he kept repeating as he turns around ensuring that everyone saw it. I was trying to get my grandbabies out of the way and yelling for Dewayne to go outside. Tynisha, Kimberly, and Neon were going off on the officer about pulling the mace out. I’m sure he felt threatened; he pulled out his gun. He was screaming get back, and everyone was screaming for him to put the gun away. I was still trying to get Dewayne out of the house. Dewayne kept saying, I ain’t going no where, I ain’t did nothing. I started pushing him through the den and towards the front door. He was resisting but I kept pushing when we got to the living room, an officer came in through the front. Now the two officers were trying to get Dewayne to go outside, but he wasn’t moving fast enough. “Get on the floor, one yell, get on the floor now. Dewayne got on his knees right in front of the living room sofa. Hands, behind your head the officer yell. Dewayne was doing what the officer asked. The second officer went back out once he saw that Dewayne was cooperating. Then Kimberly storms in from the den room. She pushes past me and starts yelling, let my brother go. “What the….!” I thought, but before I could do anything she was pushing the officer away from Dewayne. I turned around and grabbed her and push her. She was tall over me that my hand went up under her chin, she stumbles backward

Karah’s kids were adolescents when their behavior first became an issue, and even though they are now young adults, they are still rambunctious and wild. She is determined to do everything she can to help her children become productive citizens. In the process, she will face many dangers. She is constantly breaking up fights and is actually dragged during one episode. She is always running to their rescue—sometimes literally running. But she is strong and demands her respect. She even has to help the police handcuff her own daughter. All her efforts and none are effective. But Karah cannot lose this battle; these are her children. Regardless of their age, your children are always your children. The way they live their lives will always affect you. That’s called love. Karah is not going to be satisfied as long as they are breaking the law and living reckless lives.

Everyone has a story to tell, and Carol Y. Collins-Miller (CC Miller) was destined to tell hers. As a young girl, Carol would write constantly as a means of escape. As her life progressed, so did her topics. Soon her life overflowed with issues, ultimately providing an array of interesting stories for her to choose from. Her life has been filled with adventure. The natural flow of ups and downs, triumphs and tragedy, challenges and accomplishments, requires very little imagination when telling her stories. Carol’s experience as a teenage mother, a soldier, and a parent of rambunctious children highlights her strength and determination, hopefully providing motivation to others. Fortunately, Carol has also experienced beautiful love affairs and traveled to amazing places, which add romance and excitement to her stories. Carol is retired from the US military.
