The might of the Champions drastically changed the tide of the battle. The humans rallied behind their generals and pressed forwards, regardless of the dangers that lay ahead of them. Their fears were erased and their bodies were refreshed with adrenaline. With the mighty cavalry heading the charge, the human army fought their way deeper into the core of the demon army. Countless hellish creatures fell to the human cyclone. Mech pilots pushed their giant machines to the limits of their abilities, giving birth to a new definition of destruction. The ocean of humans and demons churned and frothed, whipping up a tempest of devastation. But only one solider of Diamond's army was gaining any headway: K.T.
Not heeding the danger surrounding him, he raced across the battlefront. Faster than a man could blink, he sped through the advancing human army, slicing hamstrings and chopping off limbs. He was practically unstoppable. His massacre was only halted when K.T slit the throat of Draken's dragon.
Draken heard the scream, and then he saw the blood gushing out of his dragon's neck. All of a sudden, his mind blanked out. His favourite dragon, the very first creature he had summoned, was dead. Fury blocked all else from his mind. Switching to dragon vision to follow K.T's speed, Draken engaged K.T in a vicious sword duel.
Diamond also witnessed the turning of the tables against her dark army. A rogue explosive shell arced through the air. Whether the shot was intentional or not, its target was clear.
The shell's trajectory was headed straight towards the defected Champions.
Diamond stood stock still, yet she was gathering her dark energies into one powerful blast. But before she could let loose her attack, the shell detonated a bit too close for comfort. At the corner of her eye, she observed Kai lowering his hand, which was still glowing with power. Winking at Diamond with his remaining eye, he said,
“Hey Diamond. You have nothing to worry about. I've got your back. Perhaps after this battle, we can go out for dinner. My treat.”
Those were his last words before he had to erect barrier after barrier of earthen walls to deflect other explosives rocketed their way.
“Ew. What a loser. As if I need protection.” Thought Diamond, withdrawing her collected energies back into her body.
She snorted. Ignoring Kai entirely, she pivoted towards the werewolf standing beside her. It was the werewolf that changed her entire life. The jet black fur ruffled in the mild breeze. Those malicious yellow eyes, two pairs that had seen what was beyond death, twitched towards her. He sneered. An evil sneer. Showing off his gleaming fangs, the werewolf uttered some words that only Diamond could hear.
“Now that both K.T and Kai are occupied, the time has come for me to have a new body” The werewolf growled.
Following the exact order of Diamond's vision inside the oracle lava, he clutched her chest. The werewolf shed his fur, leaving behind a cloud of dark energy. The midnight black streaks floated away in the wind. In that final moment of being Diamond, she felt something that she never thought she would feel again. Something all consuming. Something that made her feel a twinge of regret.
She was afraid.
