A Spiritual Journey

            One Sunday afternoon my dad asked if I had some free time.  I was dating a young fellow I had met at a youth group.  He lived in a neighboring town.  My dad asked me to call him up and see if he could come over to our house for awhile. 

            He came and dad told us to go to the garage, and look in the little trunk of a skooter bike that we had there.  When we did, there was a piece of paper in it with instructions to drive about two or three miles to look under the second cement pillar under the Route 1 Highway.  I thought: What was my dad up to now?  He was always full of surprises!

            We went to the stated location and there written on the cement pillar were further instructions.  This time we were to go to the Danvers/Middleton town line and look in the can at the base of the sign.  There we found new instructions to continue down that road, cross over the road leading to Middleton center and proceed another couple of miles until we reached a certain point.

             By now my curiosity was running wild!  What was he up to?  At this point we were instructed to cross the road and to walk into the woods down a pathway.  We were to continue on the pathway until we reached a field, and then to look in another tin can that was there.

             At this point we were instructed to look across the field to a large pine tree just to the right of where we were standing. We crossed the field and there was another pathway going further into the woods with another tin can at our feet.  This message told us to take 15 giant steps into the pathway, take a sharp left and go up over the knoll.
