About the Book
I wonder a lot about what God is doing in the world. And why He picks some of the people he picks to do the things He has them do. I even wonder why He picked me to do what He said He wanted me to do.
So I asked Him. And He told me. Told me about that Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Told me about Noah and his big boat. About Abraham and Jacob and Joseph down in
I was hesitant to ask Him about His own Son, Jesus. But He talked to me just as if He thought I might be able to understand. And Peter and Paul. And how a man could be struck blind and have his eyes opened all at the same time.
I was still wondering, more than ever. And he took me back again to that Tree of Knowledge and I thought that Tree must be the most wonderful Tree in all Creation. But a greater wonder is that He would talk with me, and give me such a special job to do. I wondered: Why me?
Then He said to me. Write it down. And get it right this time. So I wrote it down just the way He told it to me. Now I wonder if I have got it right. And if you who read my tale will get it right because you are one of His People too. I hope.
About the Author
I write; therefore I am. I write about interesting and eccentric people. And goats. My first published book was AND THE GOAT CRIED. HIS tears moved me deeply and I wrote THE GOAT ALSO LAUGHED. I wrote the ALFIE STORIES because I am Alfie and being a boy was a great adventure.
I earned a doctorate in Biblical Theology and wrote THE TELEVANGELIST, THE SINNER MESSIAH, then balanced them off with THE DAY CHRIST CAME BACK. Politics interests me. I wrote JAY CEE about the Presidency. Social issues intrigue me; I wrote IN THE TOBACCO PATCH.
Joseph Campbell nudged my interest in mythology; I wrote THE MARRIAGE MYTH and OEDIPUS REVISITED. Both Love and War interest me. I wrote FOR LOVE OF LEANDER and NO GREATER LOVE. But we got into the Persian Gulf War, and I wrote THE DEVIL AND TOM WALKER. Then this one, and I wrote TERROR! TERROR! & TOM WALKER TWO.
But I find God the most interesting of all. So here I give you MY CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD. I was filled with wonder at all He had to say to me, once I started asking Him questions about the characters He has created and chosen to do things in His world. I bet you will be too once you visit the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and read about the struggle between Good and Evil on the cross of Jesus.
I had to write eighteen other books before God would give me this assignment, but He has promised me another one if I get this one right. He is very strict about getting it right, and He keeps me wondering what’s next, but if this one goes over well with Him, you can watch for THE SHELLMAN STORY. That's the one in which I got hanged.
