About the Book

The grandest hope in all Christendom is embodied in the greatest myth; that Christ will come back to Earth to do battle with the forces of evil. And the grandest battles in our nation’s life are being fought over race and abortion.

So, when Christ returns, He must become involved in those battles. And when He is involved, will He be impaled on those crosses?

In this little book, I have asked the question: What if? And I have answered that question as well as I can. Now here it is: The Day Christ Came Back. It is a modern myth, and it may surprise you.

About the Author

Henry Buchanan is a theologian. While he was studying at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, he was often told "There are no myths in the Bible." Sometimes the teachers told the students this and sometimes the students told the teachers. So Buchanan decided that so much fear of the myths meant the myths were there and that they posed a threat to established belief. When he began studying the myths, he discovered that they embodied the truth, and then he understood why they posed such a great threat.

This led to the discovery that theology and mythology are one and that, having earned his doctorate in theology, he was also a mythologist.

Born near Macon, Georgia, in 1922, Henry Buchanan has been a pastor, a hospital chaplain, an educator and a marriage counselor. Now he writes theological fiction and other tales in Calloway County, Kentucky. The Day Christ Came Back is the capstone for his theological fiction, and The Marriage Myth is the foundation. In between, he has inserted The Televangelist and The Sinner Messiah and, after that, Jay Cee, a political novel with mythical overtones.
