About the Author

Tunde Akingbade is a distinguished Nigerian environment journalist and playwright. Author of many books, Akingbade won many international award including Vermont Studio Centre, USA, Artists Angel Award in 2001. He is also the Nigerian Media Merit Award winner of Segun Osoba Prize for Journalist of the Year 1992.

He won the United States Young African Leaders, Award in 1993.

A man of many parts, the author is an actor, a painter and photographer and has utilized these potentials to carry out aggressive environmental education in Nigeria using the radio, the television and newspapers. Akingbade was former Editor, African Science Monitor published by African Concord. He worked at The Guardian and Sketch. He was a correspondent and one-time freelance USA correspondent of the Daily Independent newspaper. He writes for the Sunday Vanguard newspaper in Lagos. He has written for reputable academic journals at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, USA and the Netherlands. He is also a Trustee of various NGO’S including International Institute of Professional Security. He is the Publicity Secretary of African Environmental Action Network, an international NGO with brances in Nigeria and the United States.

The author is the originator of Our Environment programme aired on the Nigeria Television Authority, the largest television network in Africa.

He has attended United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change conferences (UNFCC) and Desertification Convention in Bonn, Germany. The Hague, The Netherlands and New Delhi, India. His works have been presented at Free University, Berlin, European Union of Science Journalists, Budapest, Hungary, British Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), British Council, Nigeria, Heinrich Boll Foundation, Friedrich Ebert Foundation and University of North Carolina at Charlotte USA functions in 2005.
