Megan walked toward the rear of the tractor trailer. Suddenly, a dirty hand was clamped over her mouth, and she was thrown backwards against the side of the trailer. The stolen cattle inside were startled and moved restlessly about. Bob, her attacker, kept his left hand over Megan's mouth to stifle her cries. He punched her in the pit of her stomach several times. On the third punch, Bob released Megan. She fell to the ground and began to convulse. The last senses she remembered before passing out were the intense smell of cow manure and the taste of dirt in her mouth.

About the Book
Megan Cross and her best friend, Ashley Summers, are amateur private investigators. In this third book of the series, Megan's past life as a gang-banger comes back to haunt her. About the Author
After twenty years as an insurance investigator, Pauly Mihalak now writes the Megan Cross and Deanna Kim Mystery Series. He and his wife, Janet, reside in northeastern Ohio with their two boxer dogs, Marmaduke and Jackie. Pauly is also a paranormal investigator and has studied ghostly hauntings throughout the continental United States. His freelance articles have appeared in various magazines.
