     This novel is a picture, of the trials, tribulations, escapades, and adventures of a young man as he grows from a child, into a young man.

     It is a story of the happenings of daily life with a mother who did not love him, but who received lots of love from his grand-mother and one uncle.

     It is a tapestry, of humor, hard times, and happiness in the lives of the characters portrayed.  It is a mosaic series of events in the life of this young man.  The novel attempts to paint a picture of life in the years of depression and want in these United States.

About the Author

     After retiring from the military consisting of 22 years of service, and then later, from civilian life, finding that he had nothing but spare time on his hands, he decided to jot down some of his experiences, and adventures witch had occurred, prior to his enlistment in the service.  Realizing that the elements for a novel had appeared, from out of the past, he fabricated this action filled novel.

     These times of strife and hardship during.  ‘Great depression’ molded lives and changed values of individuals and families, and the Houtons were no exception to this rule, however, in retrospect, it determined the decisions made in later life.  With this he gives you the page turning novel, ‘A Day Gone BY”
