VICTORY THROUGH FAITH One of the little decorating fads that seem to have caught on is the use of the word “believe”. Perhaps this began when Polar Express first hit the box office. Tom Hanks clicked away on each train ticket to spell out believe. The idea is if you set your mind on something hard enough it becomes your reality. In this case it was to believe in Santa Claus and the North Pole. In one scene a boy whispered, “I believe! I believe! I believe!” We certainly did not need help in the confusing world of fairy tales, but there it is. I’m sure most parents have struggled with what to say when their kids begin to realize they’ve been taught a lie and how to help them distinguish between truth and fiction/real and pretend. Believe is a good word as far as it goes. The problem is still believing in the wrong things – lies and deception that keep you from truth. Some think it doesn’t matter what you believe in as long as you believe in something. Faith is to believe God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do in His Word. It is confidence in the Person and promises of God. The act of faith is not as important as the object of faith. True faith always leads to the commitment of your life into God’s keeping. Faith, like love is demonstrated by obedience. This is true faith and the only path to victory.
