The term "law of faith" is only mentioned one time in the Bible. I have discovered, however, it is implied throughout the Bible. This law of faith is established on solid evidence of God's eternal Word, unchanging attributes of Almighty God, and the mighty promises He has given. God cannot lie, HE never changes and HE will never abandon His children, to name a few.
Faith is a spiritual law that works, so how does one obey the law of faith?
You must believe it. One of the foundational scriptures is found in Hebrews 11:6. "But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must (necessarily) believe that God exists and that He is a rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him (out)." Faith will believe and seek! We're not seeking a God who is far away. Faith has a reliable, steadfast object--Jesus. It is Christ in you. You no longer depend on the weakness of flesh, which will surely fail you. You trust in Christ and Christ alone. This is so liberating! "Not I, but Christ." When you believe that He is who He says He is and He does exactly what He says He will do, this pleases God. Simply believe! You can stake your life on this truth. God does not lie! Faith is boldness and courage combined and rooted in the simple declaration: I trust You, Lord!
You must embrace it. Question: Does the law of faith govern your life? The word 'govern' means to pilot, direct, guide, exercise authority over, rule, control, manage; influence the action or conduct of or to hold in check, restrain. The 'law' is an established principal that works the same way every time it's obeyed. For example, the law of gravity. We know that when you drop something it will fall. Not just one time but every time.
Faith must grow. You begin with a strong conviction that faith, not works is the basis of your acceptance. Then the Holy Spirit makes you aware that your faith received a righteousness that made you justified in God's sight--just as if you'd never sinned. Faith perceives as real fact what has not yet been revealed to your senses. Growing in faith means you begin to think God's thoughts, say God's words, do what He says, in spite of the way you may feel or even what you can see. You are becoming Christ-like with the character and nature of Christ. It's time to acknowledge areas of unbelief and allow God to strengthen you with the power of His might. Unbelief hardens you to God. Faith makes you more alive to Him, more capable of knowing Him and experiencing His presence. Decide today to act on the faith you have, assured that your faith will grow. Practice what you proclaim. Faith without works of righteousness is dead, according to James 1:22 and 2:20.
Fight the good fight of faith. In every believer's life there comes a time when you will face a problem so monumental that nothing you can do in the natural will solve it. Whether the need is physical, financial or family related, it will take the supernatural to solve it. It is the law of faith that taps into God's reservoir to release His power and provision to meet your need. Remember Ephesians 6:16? "Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." This is called the good fight of faith.
