SHORT Short Stories and Briefs

Having taught high school English for many years, I knew how my students liked short stories, especially, Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Pit and the Pendulum, Hemingway’s “To Build a Fire,” and O. Henry’s numerous surprise-ending tales. Sometimes during those years, I wrote a short story and read it to my classes. At times, I wrote a story and shared it only with a family member or a special friend. At other times, I wrote and simply filed the story away.

                In SHORT Short Stories, I have pulled together some of these varied stories and other genres to share as my testimony that God answers prayer.

Years after graduation, I found in my college books and notebooks many shorthand notes, “Dear Lord, please let me write.”  Since I had never garnered exceptional writing fame, inwardly, I felt that God had not seen fit to answer those youthful prayers, but I was wrong. The Lord had continually “let me write.” I had written poetry, essays, news stories, plays, memorials, and myriad requested assignments.

 I now know I am a person who likes to write, and I have written.

                This book is offered to encourage aspiring writers of all ages and backgrounds to use your talents and God-given aspirations  to WRITE,  WRITE,  WRITE.
