Booster Shots for the Soul

Remember this one? “Smile, you’re on candid camera!” An old TV show from years gone by. Well, it applies to all of us today. Smile, my friend, you’re on everyone’s camera. Smiles are contagious. They are the only thing that can reproduce without costing anyone anything. It is no sacrifice to smile. We see so many with long faces…they look like they could drink buttermilk out of a churn…(what’s a churn? Someone askes…you gotta be old to remember a buttermilk churn) Smiling at someone who doesn’t smile back can awaken them. Smiling at someone who smiles back can encourage them. Smiling at yourself can comfort your own spirit. My wife tells me, “Honey, the first time I saw you and you smiled at me, my heart melted.” I smile at myself in the mirror and I can’t believe her, but I do know that a smile says, “Hello…life is good…you are important…everything’s gonna be alright…you can do it…and I’m here for you.” Smile at everyone today, even the grumpy ones and see what happens to you! Even if they don’t smile back, you’ll feel good about yourself. I believe Jesus smiled at everyone, all the time.
