Now then Braket” she said looking at him, “come to the south aperture of the stone and listen carefully to my words.” As he approached the holed stone she began a slow incantation and Braket, listening to her, could feel himself being drawn towards it's opening, his mind lost to him. “This is your destiny Braket. You are the chosen one and this is your appointed task. Enter the holed stone slowly and all will be revealed to you. There's no danger from entering, but what happens, what They tell you is not for me to say. Now go.” As she said these words Braket put his head into the hole and then started putting his shoulders in. Nothing was happening; he would be through and on the ground at the other side in a moment. Suddenly he wasn't there. Wasn't where? Wasn't anywhere. What's happening, he thought to himself. He was suspended in, well, in nothing really. There was no ground, no aerthsky, no Sage, no nineteen stone circle, no up and no down. There was only bright light and a sense of things spinning. A voice inside him said, “Be calmed Braket, all is well. You are safe with us.” They told him. He knew there was more than one but he didn't know how many. He felt safe and warm, as a new born in its mother's arms. “I am Bebel Caddis and you have been brought to me that I may show you the way” one of the voices inside him said. “I comprehend you.” he thought. “That is good” Bebel Caddis replied. “Now, you will be shown things and feel things that only Freyr, from his great seat can show you, but first you must be cleansed of all earthly taints. You will be made new and you will become Drumlin Caddis. These things will come, but for now, let sleep take you away and refresh you, for your path may be long and weary and you will need to be strong. Now rest, chosen one.” Braket, or now Drumlin Caddis, floated in time and thought, thoughts he couldn't understand, until a hand reached out for him. A hand he knew to be the safest thing he had ever known. He let himself be taken, he could feel himself being cleansed and a feeling of wholesomeness, a feeling of love and total understanding filled his being. He was being embraced by love, by Freyr. He was so totally immersed in this feeling of love that a million earth years passed in the twinkling of a star. The light seemed to be fading, the warmth slowly passing when suddenly he hit the ground on the other side of the holed stone. Gadwall was waiting for him. “Did you see?” She asked. “I saw” he answered her. “Then rise, Drumlin Caddis” she whispered to him and held out her hand to help him up.

About the Book
Braket and his good friend Brambling journey south, with the Sage, from their northern heims in Ryeland. She was sent by Freyr, the High Lord of earth and aerthsky, to take them back with her to Farcledra-on-Moor, where her heim is. She is to teach them new ways. Ways that will change both their lives forever. Brambling has to read from the Great Book of Freyr and become the second Sage of the age, whilst Braket must be transported through the holed stone in the center of the nineteen-stone circle on Mauldron Moor. During that transportation, he sees and hears much that he can’t comprehend at the time, but when the time does come, then he comprehends. His destiny is the Sentinel. As the Sentinel, he must face the dragon and try and help Ylfe of the Lost Light Elves. Ylfe has been searching for his people since the death of Grogan, the lizard that was slain by Arturo.
About the Author
Robert Crisp was born in Sheffield in 1945 and was educated through the secondary modern system. After leaving school, he served for nine years in the 13/18 Royal Hussars and became a tank commander. On leaving the army, he became a fireman for three years before finally spending the last thirty years of his working life as a paramedic. He gained a lot of knowledge and has had many experiences, some of which gave him inspiration and ideas for Braket’s People: A Tale Worthy of a Telling. It’s his first book.
