About the Book

Have you ever wandered along a path and started to think about who was walking there millennia ago? Whose works reside under every field or hill and whose bodies lie under our steps? Beneath our feet the world laboured on only metres from our grasp and, ignorant, we pass by. For Colin, gripped in emotional turmoil, nothing could have been further from his thoughts until he is dragged back into his own past there to toil, to explore and to love. Deep in the past of iron-age river dwellers he sees the pagan rites of his forbears and the Roman incursion that will change them for ever.

About the Author

Lizzy Lloyd In post-war Surrey families dreamed away the horrors of war in wooded hills and meadows and escaped into fantasy and creativity. Lizzy Lloyd grew up in this environment where reality slipped into fantasy so easily and art and poetry and literature were the warp and weft of everyday living. The 1960’s enthused youngsters into believing everything was possible and the rise of the working class hero in fashion, photography, interior design and films led her to first Art School then a career in haut couture. Ever restless she diverted into photo-editing and finally social care while moving around the country and in 1980 settled in Tewkesbury where the genius loci is very strong. In 1982 The Long Man was conceived, and several other books inspired by that region. In the last twenty years she has produced more stories of the interface between the psyche and the heart and the thin veneer between one period in history and another.
