About the Book

One day when Mama Bearencinipez is fixing dinner, she sends her husband, Roy, to the basement to fetch potatoes. She already knows better than to send her baby, Steve, for he has been too terrified to return to the basement ever since he visited the musty place and felt a swift kick in the rear by something very scary. Roy, who is not frightened of the basement at all, bravely flicks on the light, but it doesn’t work. He heads down the stairs, and is blindly fishing around for the sack of potatoes in the dark when he suddenly hears a hideous voice whisper in his ear. After he races up the stairs in fear, a disgusted Mama Bear heads down. But when she too is frightened half to death by something grotesque that grabs her hand, it is little Steve who saves the day with a very creative and heroic deed. Bloody Bones and Dirty Diapers shares the entertaining story of a bear family’s adventure as they attempt to overcome their fears and confront whatever is lurking in the shadows of their dark basement.

Candie Encinia was born in Madrid, Nebraska. She is an artist whose love for life, children, and fictional horror inspired her to move to California and create the Bloody Bones series for all ages to enjoy.
