Jesus Heals A Woman Who Had A Blood Issue Twelve Years (20 minutes) As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. Who touched me? Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master the people are crowding and pressing against you. But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” Then the woman seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace. Luke 8: 42b-48 The Bible does not say that hers was a menstrual problem; it may have been something else. However, one can live with chronic menstrual problems for years; bleeding in any other way almost surely brings death before twelve years. Every woman who has had problems with too heavy or too often menstrual periods can identify with this woman. Living with bleeding for twelve years is hard for us to imagine. Doctor after doctor, remedy after remedy, paying large fees and going into debt to pay more large fees, yet the bleeding goes on. She had no self-esteem, she was unclean under the Law of Moses, and by touching Jesus she made Flim unclean also. This is probably the reason that she sneaked close and touched the hem of His garment instead of standing in His face and begging for healing. Her faith in Him was so strong that she never doubted that she would be healed.

Part 1
The blood symbolism is traced from Genesis to The Cross.
After Eve became the first sinner, she then tempted her husband Adam to sin also. God killed animals and gave the couple the animal skins to cover their bodies. Symbolically the animal’s blood pointed to Jesus shedding his blood in His death to cover the sins of all mankind.
Chapters include research connecting that blood in childbirth, blood in the first Passover, blood in the menstrual cycle all are symbols pointing to the blood of Jesus shed on the cross.
God’s people are commanded not to eat blood. A survey was made of the countries that use animal blood in preparing food. Also, an investigation was made into the way animals are killed in the USA, and how their blood was drained from their carcasses, making meat comply with God’s law.
Bible women Rahab and Tamar are studied and their connection with the symbolism of the redeeming blood of Jesus. Christians take communion symbolically remembering Jesus shed His blood for our sins today.

About the Author
Willodine Hopkins, a widow with four grown children, was born and lived many years of her life in Northeast Arkansas. She holds a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Biology in Education from Arkansas State University. While living in Arkansas, she taught in the Clover Bend and Tuckerman public school districts several years. She then made a career change and began to teach in Christian educational institutions, Crowley's Ridge Academy for two years, Crowley's Ridge College for five years. While on the faculty of Crowley's Ridge College, she was the Woman's Coordinator for their Comprehensive Evangelism Program, organizing and sending "Campaigns for Christ" groups to New England, Panama, Canada and China. On weekends she organized and conducted nearly one-hundred "1,000 for Christ" Ladies' Rallies. In each rally, a thousand persons were taught the Gospel using Bible correspondence courses. She also coordinated "Target-A-Nation" evangelism workshops in which missionaries, campaign workers and interested Christians assembled to learn the peoples and cultures of the nations and how to plan to reach each nation with the Gospel. She then relocated to Southern California, continued her education by taking courses from California State University and the University of California at various campuses in the evening and on Saturdays, while she taught in Normandie Christian School in Los Angeles and later for Los Angeles Unified School District. When she retired from teaching, she pursued her dream of becoming a writer. Also, after her retirement she became heavily involved in Friendspeak, a part of Let's Start Talking program, teaching the Gospel to international students using Friendspeak materials. She taught students from China, South Korea, Mongolia, Turkey, and Thailand. As a teacher of Biblical women and women's role in evangelism, she has taught at Retreats, Special Luncheons, Creative Writing Seminars, and Soul Winning Workshops at Crowley's Ridge College, Biola University, Pepperdine University, and was the Keynote speaker at various women's conventions and conferences in many U.S. states and Canada.
