FUNNY FINGERS
Sometimes I wear Ten tiny sponges At the ends of my own Ten fingers. I have them in water Longer than I ought to I guess. They’re wrinkled and puckered And funny to look at, So I’ll dry them and wait, And soon they’ll be As smooth as yours. I CAN’T COME NOW “It’s time to come in now. Your bath water’s ready.” I can’t come now. I have to play. I have to stay and hide. I have to run. I have to fun and joke. I have to climb. I have to rhyme and dance. I really don’t want to take a bath. Maybe you can take that bath instead. A CORNER ON LIFE A favorite corner Where we used to play ball Was Four-Sewers Stadium As I recall. For fun and games Or life’s best times Put on your ball cap Of red ‘n’ white on blue. Hurry! We’re expecting you.

The name of the author who wrote these poems for young readers and their favorite adults is Phyllis K. (Blair-Semelroth). She has been a teacher, a nurse and administrator, and a poet and writer. Phyllis K. is also the mother of one girl and three boys. She lives in Kankakee, Illinois.
_____________________________Craig Massey is an artist and graphic designer who owns and operates a silk-screening and vinyl graphics business. As an additional interest he does painting and illustrating. Craig lives in Watseka, Illinois with his wife and three children.
