About the Book
This novel is one of three which are written in sequal. The first and second novels are a story of a farming family charting their progress from upheaval of eviction in nineteen thirty two through to relative prosperity after the close of world war two. It deals with the logistics of traditional farming methods and the privation of rural living . However, it is not a tale of hardship. The story revolves around Dorothy raised with Victorian values and has quite a large family. She is profoundly affected by the move to another farm and puts more and more work and responsibility on the children. Fred her husband is the rock of the family he attracts good fortune through his honesty. Despite being injured in the Great War he is promatic and it is though his hard work that the family achieves a level of prosperity beyond many others .
About the Author
Amy is born and bred in
Her early life was taken uip with her father's farm and she left school with no significant qualifications.
Because of the war years she was unable to achieve her dream of being a teacher. Amy settled for married life and took up residence at the Wrekin Cottage ( Known as the Half Way House) Situated on the Wrekin itself.
After fourteen years of marriage she broke with the area and moved away to start a new life finding her vocation as a driving instructor, continuing for over twenty years until she was forced to retire due to ill health.
It was during this time the idea for this book became fruition and was the driving force while she battled through so many dark days.
She now enjoys hobbies of painting, writing and gardening.
