The brown and white bird with the long tail was distraught. Where did he belong? Lost in his thoughts, he almost ran into an old Desert Tortoise. Though the Desert Tortoise was busy digging a deep burrow, as a shelter from the hot sun, he looked up. "Where are you going?"
"I don't know," the sad bird replied, as a tear rolled down his face. "I can't climb, fly or burrow."
"No special talents?" the Desert Tortoise asked, amused.
The bird hung his head glumly. "No, and I don't belong anywhere."
"You are special," the wise Desert Tortoise proclaimed. "But you will have to find out for yourself what makes you unique.

The Roadrunner Finds a Friend is about a young Roadrunner who ventures out into the world. Desperately wanting to belong, he searches for a friend and along the way discovers his special talent.
About the Author
After living in Pennsylvania for most of her life, the author, Melanie Korth moved to Southwest Arizona and became facinated with the unique desert vegetation and wildlife. She has experimimented with watercolor to capture the beauty of the desert environment.
