"I can't jump, like the Jackrabbit. I can't fly, like the Cactus Wren. I can't climb, like the squirrel and I can't run, like the Roadrunner. I don't have my own burrow, like the Prairie Dog. I'm not smart, like the fox and I'm not feared, like the rattlesnake," the Javelina replied resentfully. "Why are you so jealous? Go back home and think about all that you have," the hawk wisely advised.

After living in Pennsylvania for most of her life, the author, Melanie Korth moved to Southwest Arizona and became fascinated with the unique desert vegetation and wildlife. She has experimented with watercolor to capture the beauty of the desert environment.
