About the Book

This book shows how a woman's faith in God allowed her to, not only survive the most tragic of circumstances, but to use her experiece to help many others.  The accidental death of her six-year old daughter brought Antonia to the edge of insanity.  But in her sorrow, she came closer to God and was able to prosper spiritually.

The changes in her life were not without pain and suffering.  Anyone who follows Jesus will tell that your faith will be tested time and time again.  And it takes uncommon faith to deal with the many difficulties that are thrown your way to cause you to waiver.  As you will see, Antonia's faith did not waiver.  In fact, it became stronger with every test.

About the Author

Antonia Cardona (formerly Heredia) was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico during World War II.  At that time, Puerto Rico was already a territory of the United States and Puerto Ricans were United States citizens.  Consequently, Puerto Rico was experiencing the social, economic and political effects of the war.

Like many others at that time, Antonia's family was poor.  A landowner had allowed her father to "section off" a corner of his land, to build a small house, plant a few crops and raise a few domestic animals.  This seemed to be a common practice at that time.

Antonia lived with her parents, a brother and two sisters.  Another sister had died at nine months of age, when Antonia was almost three years old.  Needless to say, her life had more than its fair share of challenges but, there were many happy moments in her childhood.  Although there were  lots of chores to be done, there was also time to play.

Neither of her parents had attended school but they made sure that the children did and Antonia was able to get through the ninth grade. She liked to play the part of the teacher with her younger brother and sister being her students.  She did such a good job that by the time they started school, they were well versed in arithmitic, able to count up to a thousand and to perform some addition and subtraction.

Her early childhood experiences formed in her a lot of the excellent traits she would exhibit during the rest of her life.  A series of events caused the family to leave Puerto Rico and come to the United States.  Her subsequent journey, from tragedy to a fullfilling life of service to God, is depicted in this book.
