Sam could not get over how amazing Ellie was, not only how beautiful she was, but how at ease in her sexuality, it was if she wanted to please him even more than he wanted to satisfy her……where was this woman all his life he wondered…..and why couldn’t he have met her 20 years earlier? And what in the hell was wrong with her husband? He wished Jane would discover the pleasure of making love with this much passion. They made love again and again, and when she was wrapped in his arms, just talking to him, she felt as if she always belonged there. Their day had come close to being over; they dressed and went to dinner before Sam had to take Ellie back to the airport. He walked her to the gate, she had a little less than an hour before take-off, with tears in her eyes, she smiled at him, told him how wonderful he was, and how much she loved him, she couldn’t understand how Jane didn’t enjoy this part of their marriage. “She is one foolish woman” Ellie told him Sam didn’t want to leave her, but he had to. He kissed her once more and left the airport. With her roses, Ellie boarded the plane, flew back to Chicago, picked up her car from the lot, and drove home. Sam had asked her to call his home phone and let it ring twice when she arrived home so he would know she got home okay, she dialed, let it ring twice, hung up and crawled into bed. It was good that Ellie was alone the next few days, although Jessie did call the following morning to make sure she got home safe. She shared her love for Sam with friend and told her a little about the trip. Jessie was relieved that she had made it back with no glitches. Later that afternoon her mother called and insisted she come over for a barbeque on Sunday afternoon. Over the weekend Ellie kept thinking of the magic between her and Sam, how much she loved him, and no matter what happened, she would forever have her memories. Sunday evening, when she answered the phone, she was surprised to hear Sam’s voice. “Are you okay” he asked her “I’m like a roller coaster” she told him. “One minute I’m smiling as big as I can smile and the next I’m in tears, I am okay, or I will be…I think. How about you?” she asked. “I am about the same, only I am not alone so it’s tough….but hey, I’m a guy…right?” “You’re not like any other guy I have ever known, except for maybe my dad” she told him. “Ellie, I love you…and I hate to go, but I have to. I will have an email waiting for you Tuesday morning….bye Babe” “I love you too, Sam” Ellie said and hung up smiling. Ron and the children returned Monday evening, and life resumed to its regular routine. Tuesday, when she checked on the computer, there was a note waiting for her. “Ellie, I want you to know that I had the time of my life with you on Friday. You can’t imagine how I wish I had met you 20 years ago.”
Ellie sent him a note back telling him how nervous she was and how she hoped she could hold up to his expectations. Sam;
I wanted to be with you so much and at the same time I was so nervous. I was afraid I couldn’t hold up to your expectations and you would be disappointed. It was amazing how relaxed I felt with you. It was the most wonderful day of my life too. Sam replied:
“Ellie,
What do you mean…hold up to my expectations?? You set the bar so high that no one else comes close to reaching it. You have already reached new highs with me. I just want to try for me and see how good it can possibly be.I know for certain that you are the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with….but unfortunately for us, we aren’t free to be together. For now, we can only have the love in our hearts, and email of course. I will always want you….and I know I will always love you…“ Sam
Ellie felt the same way, she loved him more than she thought possible…..but he was right. They both had “other” lives. For now all they could have would be the emails, the phone calls, and the love inside their hearts.

Having only shared those few hours in the airport, the two become the best of friends and over time their friendship grows into something more. This is the kind of love they both have only dreamed of, only there isn’t too much they can do about it as neither of them is free.
Their long distance relationship faces many challenges until life manages to come between them. Years pass and when the two reconnect, their lives have changed, but their love is as strong and alive as ever. Now, if they can manage to over-come all the obstacles trying to stop them, their chance for a life together may finally no longer be delayed.
About the Author
I live with my husband in a suburb outside Detroit, Michigan and we have raised two wonderful children. Through the years while my children were growing up, I often thought about writing a book, but the children, helping my husband start a company, along with our involvement with various activities and organizations left me little time. Now that the company is growning, the children grown, and dealing with an illness that has caused me to slow down, I have found the time to write
