THE FOX OF ANCESTRAL CURSES
Genes, hormones, chromosomes, chemicals, what do all these things have to do with my spiritual life? Well, the answer is that these "things" not only regulate specific functions in our physical body but they are also the "dynamics" behind our character, gender and spiritual destiny! How many times have you heard someone say that a person is made of the "right stuff"? The right stuff refers to the positive emotional characteristics that he inherited from his forefathers and this "genetic" information has a great influence on his spiritual life.
This scientific/spiritual fact is proven as we look at the generations of Jesus Christ that are recorded in Matthew 1:1-17. The Gospel of Matthew records that there were 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus and Mary's husband-to-be, Joseph, was a member of his family! Now I understand why Joseph was so cooperative and agreed to marry Mary inspite of her pregnant condition-he had the "right stuff"!
The same faith that Abraham had to believe God and not stagger (Romans 4:20), was in Joseph's "genes" too. Joseph inherited his capacity to believe God in impossible situations from his forefather, the Father of Faith. He had to have the "right stuff" to believe and accept what the Angel told him about Mary in his dream! "But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost...Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife." Matthew 1:20,24.
The descendants of Abraham inherited his faith biologically and spiritually. We inherit the propensity for certain things from our parents, e.g., professional careers, natural gifts, abilities, talents, hobbies, physical features and social graces. If we use these innate qualities the right way, they will work for our good and bring wealth and prosperity to us and future generations. However, the same "scientific principle" holds true in the reverse, our mind can contain the "wrong stuff" and those negative character traits can destroy our future.
The Bible contains many examples of people who had the "wrong stuff" and were used by Satan in plots to try and cut-off the righteous seed and overthrow God's plan of Salvation, however, there is one individual that really stands out-Judas Iscariot. He was hand-picked by Satan because he had the "right", wrong stuff! He had some serious character problems, he was stubborn, treacherous and disloyal by nature and because of these traits, he was a perfect candidate to be used in the plan to betray Jesus. He had the same opportunity that the other disciples had but because of his psychological disposition, he never submitted and became a "team player" for real.

About the Book
To live a godly, peaceable life in this World, a Believer must be "filled" with the Holy Ghost and have the Fruit of the Spirit actively working in his personality. However, before he can possess these emotional qualities and grow spiritually, the "field" of his mind and emotions must be pruned, purged (during personal trials) and "cleansed" by the Word of God. Unfortunately, Satan is not just going to sit back and let this happen without putting up a fight, so he uses all kinds of sly, deceitful strategies to hinder or stop this process in our life. He systematically uses sin, unrestrained emotions and false teaching to "dig holes" in our health, character and personality. If we intend to reach the "more" and "much" fruit-bearing stages Jesus spoke about in John 15:2,5, you and I must strive to "catch" the foxes we see in our life before they destroy our vines! As we go through trials and tribulations, we must take advantage of every opportunity to gain more spiritual knowledge and understanding. The woman who was healed from the Issue of Blood understood what the "hem" of the priest's garment represented so, as a result, her knowledge + her need + her determination energized her faith and pushed it to a level that drew so much virtue out of Jesus that she received her Healing and He had to ask, "Who touched me?" When we understand the rudiments of the Word of God and understand the fundamental principles that support what we believe, it will energize our faith and maximize the level of what we receive from the Lord! Understanding is the key to growth and spiritual success!
