About the Book

About the Author

Although the author of this autobiography was my dad, I recently edited it to make it more interesting and readable.  Therefore, for the sake of convenience, I Larry L. Didlo, am calling myself the author.  There are three other E-books available through the Internet with IstBooks.com listed under my name.  They are also associated with reading literacy and family life.  This sixteen-page manuscript was written mostly over 21 years ago, six years before John Harvey Didlo passed away.

The editor-author grew up in Oshkosh with other family members after his dad was transferred from Manitowoc.  Larry received the Eagle Badge when he was age 14 at the Manitowoc Kiwanis Club, and later the God & Country Award, after moving, at the Oshkosh Presbyterian Church with two other Eagle Scouts.  While attending Oshkosh High School, he was elected President of the Student Council as a senior.  Later he received the B.S. Degree in secondary education with a major in Social Science from the school that is now called UW-O.  He was a member of the National O Lettermans Club.  In 1964 this educator, or editor-author (titles are sometimes confusing) was awarded a M.S. in Education at I.U. of Bloomington.  His girlfriend helped him with the math portion of his major mid term paper.  He taught full-time at the secondary level with the L.A. City School District for the first two years of his teaching career.  Before going overseas, he was initiated in the PDK International Educational Fraternity in 1967.  He is still active in Phi Delta Kappa today while secondary subbing at the Appleton Area School District.  Before closing, I would like to mention my dad assisting adults to register to vote in Phoenix, as I did at Oshkosh Webster Stanley School 20 years later.  Hats off to Mr. D. for a job well done!
