Fulfilling the Prophecy
Even though all Muslims are not apocalypitic, meaning to bring to pass prophetic events, fanatic Muslim extremist seeks to bring about the fulfillment of prophecy by terrorism, thereby setting the stage for the reign of the Mahdi. One such Islamic group is HAMAS. The name of the organization Hamas is actually an Arabic acronym for the “Islamic Resistance Movement.”This is the name of the Gaza-based Palestinian terror group which carries out homicide bombings against innocent Israelis. In Arabic hamas means “zeal.”
There is an interesting word study on the word HAMAS. The Hebrew word in Obadiah translated as “violence” is Hamas. Also, The Hebrew word translated for “violence” in Genesis 6:11 is “Hamas!”and may have predicted this Islamic radical group alongside their activities. According to the Scripture, Edom is finally destroyed in the end days and for hamas against Israel cannot be a coincidence since God does nothing haphazardly. God has always been meticulous about the information that is contained in the Bible that He inspired, by His Spirit, men to write.
The group Hamas (The Islamic Resistance Movement) is based primarily in the Gaza Stripe and the so-called West Bank. However, over the last years Hamas has been expanding their base of operations to the US. In December 2003, one Hamas-related operative was caught before he could cross into the US from Canada and fulfill his mission to kill Jews in New York City. The implication are that Hamas, like al-Qaeda, is spreading throughout the world.
Unbelievers and Partners of God
The Qur'an and the hadith teaches that during the Mahdi's rule, government and power will be taken away from idol worshippers, non-monotheistic, and materialistic disbelievers and given to Muslims and others worthy of the world. Here are a few passages from the Qur'an,
“It is He who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, that he may uplift it above every religion, though the unbelievers be averse.” (Saff, 9)
“God has promised those of you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will surely make you successors in the land, even as He made those who were before them successors, and that He will surely establish their religion for them that He has approved for them, and will give them in exchange after their fear security: 'They shall serve Me, not associating with Me anything.” (Nur, 54)
”Yet We desired to be gracious to those that were abased in the land, and to make them leaders, and to make them the inheritors, and to establish them in the land.” (Qasas, 4)
Here we can glean from the Qur’an that when the powers of the world and their governments are in the hands the Mahdi and Muslims, the religion of Islam overshadows all other religions and actually cast a shadow over them all.
In addition, this tradition teaches that the period of the Mahdi's rule and assures Muslims that those who do not believe in Islam will be annihilated from the face of the earth. Thus in all the world, there will be a Muslim in God's unity. Take for example what the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) had to say,
“Even if there remains one day in the life of the earth, God will bring forth a man from among my progeny whose name and character will be like mine, and whose patronymic will be Abu 'Abd Allah. Through him God will revive His religion and bring it back to its early glory. God will also endow him with victory and there will remain on earth none other than the ones who will declare the Unity of God” (tawhid).
