About the Book

The motivational parts of my life are provided here in unique fashion. I hope it touches others like it has touched me. “A Note To Quote” was written to entertain and encourage at several levels. First, there is the obvious enjoyment of reading the poetry. The rhyming is used to create expected rhythm. Second, some words that may not be well understood are underlined. Then, below the poem these underlined words are explained. This makes them readily available. This gives the reader a better understanding of the poem and it offers a chance to expand vocabulary. For example, the word contemplation would be defined under the poem as continuous consideration of victory. This is designed as a fun educational characteristic. Third, after the reader has read the poem and thought about its meaning, the author’s inspiration is discussed below the poem for interest. This is the motivational message. A few may not have discussion but just a note worth quoting. Forth, motivational thoughts that may be quoted are in italicized and provide key summaries of the author’s opinion. The work is intended to blend motivation and encouragement with some fun and mystery.  “A Note To Quote” possible quotation examples:

To be touched by a kind hand is to be blessed in the land.

Or

The dream can be conceived if the action you achieve.

Or

Each person will need a touch of care so when the time comes be there.

Or

If you can round the bend, it may be straight to the end.

About the Author

Since my youth, I have been immersed in the marvel and magic of nature’s detail, mystery and awe. I was steeped in the belief that nature, like the life experience, is a great teacher. It has been a filter for my thinking. I compare and evaluate a matter, with nature in mind. I have described the feelings about my discoveries in poetic fashion most of my life. One storm rocked my boat early. My parents divorced when I was 9 years old and my struggle over abandonment and grief has been ongoing. At 19, I owned my own roofing business for three years. I have been married for over 30 years and have three children. I have a Bachelor of Science degree and was professionally certified as a Physician Assistant (PA). As a PA, I witnessed the strong successes and failures of the human mind and body. I have cried with those who would die and felt the glory of overcoming the difficulties of disease. Serving on the front lines of illness for 14 years in the military gave me tremendous insight into the forces of life. After retiring from the military, I suffered a complete mental breakdown with very poor memory. The struggle with the old nemesis of abandonment, grief and suicide were not easy. My “spiritual” awareness was at war with something I had not encountered. This experience has helped me understand the weaknesses and difficulties that face one in high seas when the gale seems to demand the last ounce of ones strength and desire. This book is about the motivational hopes and actions that have brought me to a successful life, in spite of having a permanent 100% service connected disability.
