It Happens To Be True
Once upon a time, history shows, there was a country that in many ways was quite advanced. It had become the marvel of economic progress, developing lots of new science and technology, and prided itself on its accomplishments. In fact, it had landed Earthmen on the moon and brought them home again.
Yet in at least one important way, the country was intellectually retarded and culturally backward, for in this significant respect it lagged behind even some of the most primitive of human societies.
That was because in this country, the people as a whole held to a quaint and self-limiting notion. They believed that the healing of illnesses and the influencing of situations through the power of the mind alone was a fiction — or if not a fiction, at best a rare and supernatural phenomenon. And they held to this idea even while mental healing (also called psychic healing or causing) was being done all around them, among them, for them.
Here and there, many people recognized that healing and altering events were a natural function of an intelligent human mind, but most followed a predictable pattern. The less they knew about the subject, the more likely they were to scoff.
And therefore the country did not make the adjustment in public attitude that would have led to a massive reduction in illness and misery of many sorts.
Rather, the people busied themselves in more difficult and indirect ways of attacking the problems — ways they hoped might bring about an improvement. They placed emphasis upon exotic chemicals for combating disease and infection, and upon complex surgical techniques if the chemicals failed.
They even developed expensive mechanical devices to replace damaged parts of the body, although in many cases the human parts might have been rebuilt by simple action of the mind. And because of the technical workers'''' sincerity, dedication, skill, and thoroughness, their accomplishments in these substitute fields were great.
Most of the populace behaved this way because they had looked at Man with unseeing eyes, and in their ignorance, they knew him not.
Perhaps you can identify the country. It still exists, and its people still hold to their peculiar belief.
Meanwhile, ordinary citizens who had taken the trouble to learn to use their minds in a causative way were performing what the uninitiated would often regard as miracles, of many kinds.
But they were not miracles. Simply products of a human mind, like yours, put to good use for healing or other worthwhile purpose.
About this book
This is a training manual arising from my own experience. (See heading “My qualifications for this book” on page 6.) It shows you how to use the power of your mind to alter conditions, situations, and circumstances anywhere on the planet — to “turn the world” toward some better vision.
You can do this remotely from wherever you may be and in comfort at your own convenience. Numerous illustrations throughout this book describe cases where creative thought was applied and a desired change occurred, seemingly as a direct result of the mental effort. The fifteen examples in the next chapter illustrate this reality, and others appear with discussions of techniques and applications.
The ability is a natural but usually untapped human attribute, one of our inherent psychic capabilities. It employs the psychic energy of a particular kind of thought — a “causing,” or “creative,” thought, as defined below. Like other mental skills, this latent psychic ability can be developed by nearly anyone who makes a serious effort.
