Since this book is about living a life that allows one to feel daily joy of the heart, daily happiness of the mind, and daily peace of the soul, many tittles were suggested. The tittle chosen had to capture a life filled with purpose and mission: LIVING WITH ATTITUDE - THE HERO IN EACH OF US was the choice.
Charles Swindoll once wrote that attitude is what makes the legacy of life. We can live with ‘bad attitudes’ or we can live with good attitudes. It only means we can choose the attitude in which to live. Bad things happen to good people, and we choose to react with ‘GOOD ATTITUDE’ to the situation.
Attitude is more than facts.
It is more than the past,
It is more than education,
It is more than money,
Than circumstances,
Than failures,
Than success,
Than what other people think, say or do.
It is more important than appearance,
Than talents or skill,
Attitude will make or break
A Company
A Church
A home
A person
We have a choice each day
Regarding the attitude we choose.
We cannot change our past.
We cannot change the fact that people act a certain way. I am convinced that life is 10% of what happens to us, and 90% of how we react to it.
‘Faith’ like attitude is a way of living. However Attitude applies to non-believers as well. Whether we believe in a God or not, whether we believe that prayer makes a difference or not, we choose an ‘attitude’ that allows us to live a life of purpose and mission. ‘Attitude’ gives us the hope that tomorrow will be a better day. Our future does not have to be controlled by our past.
With the movie of Super hero SPIDER MAN making a big hit in the summer of 2004, we are reminded about heroes. In this book, I have chosen people, ideas, nature (plants and animals) that exemplify aspects of living with attitude – the hero within each of us.
One day feeling rather down, the story of Robert Reuter’s gave birth to the idea of this book: LIVING WITH ATTITUDE -- THE HERO IN EACH OF US.
The chairman called Robert E. Reuter into his office to tell him that he was being promoted to Vice President of Corporate Research and planning. Of course, Robert was quick to ask that the tittle be changed to Vice President of Planing and Research.

There is no better, faster or more effective way to reach out to people than by the adroit use of humor. So Father Tony has written five joke books with the title: OH! FOR HEAVEN’S SAKES. When asked the question about the title of the joke books, he jokes “Because every time I tell a joke people say “OH! FOR HEAVEN’S SAKES!” With his sense of humor he felt it was appropriate to make fun of his own jokes! After all if one can’t take a joke, why write a joke book?
The reasons for the five spiritual books are self-evident. We need to be comforted in times of grief and loss – COMFORT THOSE WHO GRIEVE. We need help in belief and prayer – LORD TEACH US TO PRAY. Lent is a journey of the human soul in times of suffering -- WALK WITH JESUS THROUGH LENT. We need young people to response to the call “Here I am Lord, send me!” CALLED TO BE A PRIEST. Finally, LIVING WITH ATTITUDE – THE HERO IN EACH OF US reminds us that there is darkness, suffering, fear in each of us, but the hero in each of us allows us to live with a positive attitude.
