About the Book
A Guide on Spiritual Growth: How Should the African American Full Figured Woman Respect Her Inner Self as well as Personal Appearance? is work in which I seek to offer assurance and encouragement for women who may have low self esteem due to unfair expectations placed on her by others.
The central intention of my text is to identify iconic images of women in modern culture and to explore the ways that these or some ideals may leave certain women feeling disassociated or disrespected. Geared toward the demographic described in my title, my guide contains advice for a woman regarding an inner perspective that I have reached in relation to my own identity as a woman and as a child of God. Combining this sense of the physical and spiritual, I touch upon such topics as complimentary styles of dress, being in touch with the blessings of life, exercises designed to encourage inner peace and self- awareness, and issues of purpose in the light of God's plan. I also advise the reader in areas related to prayer and other aspects of a relationship with the Divine, pointing out ways that I have found to incorporate matters of spirit into everyday reality. Throughout the work, I seek to keep the emphasis on positive ideas and my themes of love and sisterhood could be instrumental in leading an individual to a healthy way of thinking.
In A Guide on Spiritual Growth, I'm seeking to endow treaties with an uplifting tone in order to inspire a sense of pride and accomplishment, and I take careful consideration of the subject matter to give an overall effectiveness.
