About the Book

Los Angeles criminal law attorney, Sean Fitzpatrick O’Ryan, agrees to represent a member of a college staff who has been accused of the brutal shotgun murder of his wife who had caught him having an affair with one of the students at the college, one of many the accused has had over the years.

Sean believes in the innocence of his new client, but as the evidence unfolds, that belief is challenged substantially as the guilt of the client is seemingly manifested in many ways. The case of first-degree murder goes to trial and Sean is opposed by a tough, hard charging woman Deputy District Attorney in the Criminal Court.

The trial is fully portrayed in all of its fascinating aspects and takes several dynamic twists and turns as it progresses to an explosive climax.

About the Author

In a long and distinguished career, Michael Patrick Murray has been a trial attorney, both as a prosecutor and defense counsel, as well as a trial judge and appellate judge.   In addition, he has enjoyed extensive teaching experience as a law professor at four different law schools.

When asked as to what aspect of his experience he enjoys most, Mr. Murray advises, "Added to the genuine pleasure of writing about the law - as well as the challenge this presents – I truly believe, “It is a close call between studying law, teaching law, and fighting the good fight for truly worthy causes - the most important of which are truth and justice -  neither of which are mutually exclusive nor can they stand alone from each other in the courtroom.  This is a hard fact that is lost on many lawyers today.”

Judge Murray’s well received, previous novel in which the protagonist Sean Fitzpatrick O’Ryan was introduced, is  entitled “O’Ryan’s Law,” and was recently published by lst Books.
