Excerpt from Chapter 1 As the giant 747 swung into the traffic pattern over Staten Island, John Anderson gazed out the window and an ironical smile crossed his lips when the Statue of Liberty passed below. He was returning from several months overseas, having visited many foreign countries. It had not been a tourist type trip. When he tried to resign his commission, his commanding officer talked him into becoming a special contact with several foreign air forces. It had been interesting work, but he was bored with the politics of it. So after much discussion his commander accepted his resignation. However he didn't send it in to headquarters. Instead he sent it to the President of the United States with a letter of considerable interest to the President. After a few minutes, the aircraft sat down and taxied up to the Kennedy International Airport terminal. The air traffic had been light, so there was no long delay in landing. It had been a smooth flight from England. Some of his other travel connections hadn't been so smooth. He was about to embark on the most dangerous mission of his life. John Anderson was born, July 4th, 1961 on a farm near Worthington, Minnesota. His parents were of second generation Swedish descent. He had an older brother, Thomas and a younger sister Ellen. Thomas and Ellen had married, but John never felt settled enough to consider matrimony. After high school, he went on to college, with a teaching career in mind. After college graduation he came back home to teach history at the local high school. After a time he became tired of the lack of interest that his pupils were showing about history. He had always believed that history repeated itself and would continue to do so in the future. So in this state of mind, John enlisted in the Air Force and became a fighter pilot. He was very good in his new occupation and rose rapidly in the ranks. He was a Lt. Colonel when he took command of an Air Wing in the Gulf War. He was on several missions, including Samarra and An Nasiriyah. Excerpt from Chapter 5 Celeste knocked on John's door and he invited her in. He asked if she had made contact with her family. She had and everything was fine. They discussed the flight and went over the return trip. They also did some paper work, so that it wouldn't delay them in the morning. They decided that by now, it was time to have their evening meal. They went down to the restaurant and bar. After eating they had an after dinner drink and listened to a country western band. They both liked the music and Celeste suggested that they dance. John liked to dance and was a good dancer. It turned out that Celeste was very good. She snuggled close to him, when she could, this made him very nervous. After several dances they sat and enjoyed the music. John said they should turn in for the night, as they would leave early in the morning as soon as the tank had been installed. Celeste spoke "I haven't had this much fun in a long time. This was a good lesson in flying ". Then she laughed softly. She had a very pretty laugh, John thought. John got in the shower and had just finished, when a knock came on the door that adjoined Celeste. He opened it and Celeste was standing here in a bathrobe. She spoke "Can I use your shower? My shower isn't working right. I like the pulsating feature ". John laughed "Go right ahead. I am doing some paper work before I turn in ". She headed to the shower and he heard her singing a Spanish tune. She had a very good voice, After a time she came out drying her hair. She was a beautiful woman, even with her hair wet. John went back to his paper work. She leaned over his shoulder to see what he was doing, and asked "What are you doing "? He replied "I am making up a few questions for your training on our return trip ". She replied with a laugh, "Don't make them too hard. I might flunk the test ". John replied "I don't think that would be possible. You are the most accomplished student pilot I have ever seen ". She laughed softly and went to her room. John had gone to bed, and was thinking about the mission from the President. It had gotten complicated and he wondered who the informer at the White House was. Suddenly, Celeste's voice came from her door. "John, are you awake. I can't sleep ". John replied "No, I am awake. I was just laying here thinking ". Then, he turned the light on and there stood Celeste in the doorway, naked as the day she was born. After collecting his thoughts, he noted that she had a very beautiful body. He spoke "I don't think this is a good idea. We are marooned here for the night and should maintain a professional relationship. Don't tempt me to do something that we might regret ". She laughed her soft sound and moved toward him speaking "I don't think we would regret it at all ".

About the Book
Colonel John Anderson returning from a tour of duty and a follow-up extended vacation finds more adventure than he counts on. After a short visit to his family in Minnesota, he hits the road to Texas. An unexpected call from the President of the United States triggers a chain reaction for John and his friends. A worldwide terrorist organization with plenty of backing from enemy nations of the United States and the others that support freedom attempts to destroy freedom in the world. John visits his Gulf War buddies and enlists their aid in the mission that the President had entrusted him with. A German Shepherd dog named "King’ is a big factor in the tale. The reader will appreciate the part that the dog plays. They are the best friends in time of trial. The story takes place all over the western United States. There are events going on in the world that people don’t realize. We take freedom for granted and this is a big mistake. The story also contains the human element such as love and the use of it to attain goals that are not always of the highest plane. Money is also much more of a factor than most people know. The word "Greed" also rears its ugly head throughout the book. We are also too trusting of our people in government. We are of the opinion to let "Joe" take care of our government problems and let the people we send to Washington to represent us. Who is "Joe?" We need to get more involved as citizens and not rely on "Joe." The story has the human aspect of sex, love and relationships portrayed in a respectable manner. The author enjoyed writing this report to the readers in the hopes that it will awaken us all. The time is now. Don’t waste it!
About the Author
The author, C E Stewart was born in 1925 and lived through the depression. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, which later became the "Air Force." At the end of World War II, he became a civilian. He tried working in a manufacturing plant, but he didn’t like the routine. He worked as a mechanic and was blessed with a boy and girl. To increase his income, he went on the road as a sales representative. This allowed him to get an insight into human nature that he would not have gotten otherwise. His first marriage failed for reasons not easily explained. He traveled for about 35 years before retiring. At this point he wrote his first novel, a science fiction work, that he was able to get published with 1st Books Library. Terrorist Within is a current topic that should attract concerned readers. The author will keep writing as long as he is able to. He enjoys it and certainly hasn’t become bored with retirement. He would like to write more science fiction and adventure novels. Maybe, he can affect readers to be more concerned about their government and the persons who represent them. Yes, everyone can make a difference.
