To know your roots, to have a sense of belonging to an extended family, and to have an historical record of your being is important.” ese are the opening words of this autobiography which not only covers the highlights of Maryann McCrea’s life, but also captures the times in which she grew up. As the title suggests, “Vignettes of My Life” are re ections as told to her by her family as well as her own recollections. e memoir begins with her family’s arrival to the United States from Italy in the late 19th century and chronologically follows her school days, her romances and her marriage. It is a personal record which captures her life in New Rochelle, New York during the mid 20th century. e book describes how life has changed from then to now weaving a bit of history into her stories.

About the Author

Maryann B. McCrea received her Bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College and a Master’s degree from Columbia University. She taught secondary school English for several years before raising her two sons with her husband, Charles. In 1982 she and her friend, Meryl Blackman, started a college advisory service where they counseled students on the college admissions process for over twenty years. Maryann has been passionate about writing since childhood. “Good Night, Sweet Dreams,” a collection of children’s stories, was her rst book. “Vignettes of My Life” is her memoir. She lives in Armonk New York.
