About the Book

Written by someone steeped in the water business, it is aimed at those young graduates who see themselves as the managers of the future. It’s style is informal but don’t let that fool you into thinking that the content is not serious. It contains an eclectic mix of subjects and, whilst most are based in the water industry, they have relevance to management in virtually any sphere. It’s guiding principle is that an example is worth a dozen specifications and keeping things simple. Learning should never be a chore so dip in and out at your convenience.

About the Author

A graduate in Civil Engineering, the author cut his teeth on Manchester’s slum clearance programme and went on to broaden his experience in local government before joining the water industry in the middle of the worst drought of the century. Starting out as a sewerage specialist, he branched out into other spheres, concentrating on capital investment and asset management which he taught overseas for a decade. Building on his teaching experiences, he wishes to leave something behind for the younger generation who have aspirations to become the managers of the future.
