About the Author
Dr. Luiz De Miranda, P.Eng., is an Agricultural & Agri-Foods Eng., with Major in the Technologies of Foods, Beverages, Sugar & Alcohol (USP), S.F.T. (M.Sc. Equiv.) in Food Science & Technology (UNICAMP), And Ph.D. In Food Process Engineering (England, UK). The Author is a retired Engineer since 2019, with over 54 years of global working experience in Mexico, Canada & USA, and in several countries in Europe, Latin America, the Near-East and in Asia. Along his extensive and fruitful professional career, he worked in various capacities in South America (Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia), North America (Mexico, USA and Canada), in several (15) countries of Central & Western Europe (including Austria, Poland, and Bulgaria), in the Near East (Turkey), in Southern Asia (India), and in East Asia (China). Within his areas of specialization, he had been totally dedicated to the Global Agri-Foods & Beverages, focused on Food Science, Technology & Engineering, and with diverse & international experience in Strategic Planning, Business Development, Technology Transfer, Technical Assistance, Restructuring & Re-Engineering, Production, R&D (Process & Product), Technical Auditing and in Quality & Safety. His international professional activities have been rendered to Global Corporations, such as: Nestle, Coca-Cola R&D, Bunge Foods & Oils, Tristao Group – Realcafé (Soluble Coffee) / Cafuso (R&G Coffee) / A. G. Cruz – Vitoria (Cocoa & Chocolates), The Molson-Coors Brewery, The H.S. Sieber Group - Can Agra Foods, Dawn Foods, and others. He also worked in international organizations in missions such as with: C.I.D.A. (Canadian International Development Agency) - in P.R. of China, The E.B.R.D. (The European Bank for the Reconstruction & Development’s UK-US Consortium) - in Bulgaria & Poland, U.N.I.D.O. (The United Nations Industrial Organization) – in Vienna, Austria (In Bolivia & Argentina), and with the Government of Ontario: OMAFRA (Ontario Ministry of Agriculture & Foods) - Canada. He also worked in many large- middle- and small enterprises, including: The Brazilian Federation of Industries, PSI, NZPT, Dare Foods, Leading Brands, Meller, Spali, Tierra Nueva and few others. Uniquely, within these enterprises, he grew up in his professional duties in the capacities from Trainee-Engineer to Corp. V.P. - in both Developed & Under-Developing countries – as well as in countries with both Central-Planned- and with Market-Oriented economies. In his professional endeavors, he was also an entrepreneur, the Founder and President of DIF - Diet Foods International & Galicia – Technology & Marketing, both in Canada, and Phoenix – Technology & Marketing, in the USA. His professional experience also encompassed over 25 years of International Technical Consultancy, as a seasoned international engineer & consultant for the International F&BI. s (Food & Beverages Industries), - having working experience in 32 out of the 45 fields in Foods, and in 8 out of the 18 fields in Beverages, and completing more than 50 international projects and technical services in 27 countries in the world. As an Industrial Coacher & mentor in his same areas of expertise, - he trained over 5,000 workers (- both rural and industrial professionals), - from workforce laborers to Sr. Executives. To complement his long and successful professional career, he was a University Professor & Researcher at the FEAA (Faculty of Food & Agricultural Engineering) at a Prestigious Brazilian University (UNICAMP), - and, before he became a University Professor, he was Teacher at Secondary School (for adults), and at the Technical College of Food Science & Technology (UNICAMP). As a Scientist & Researcher, he was an independent inventor, the sole author of an International Patent in Coffee Technology (2018), and the co-author in a collaborative U.S. Patent (2020), - also in the Coffee field. As far as languages are concerned, he is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, with working knowledge and medium conversation skill level in Italian and French, and basic knowledge of Polish and German. The author currently lives in Canada, where he has been married to his sweet & lovely wife Ana Emilia for over 42 years, also having two sons, one grandson and one granddaughter. Although he had authored several technical projects & international reports along his professional career, this is indeed his book’s first writing experience, done on topics of his passion (Genealogy & History), - as once he promised to pursue it for his late and dear father, DR. FERNANDO GAMA DE MIRANDA. His promise was to clarify – at last - the mystery surrounding the origin & history of the large MIRANDA FAMILY across the Millennia, - now estimated as having over 2.0 million family members, and spread across 2/3 (or around 146 countries) of the world. With this “Golden Book of the Miranda Family”, the author believes he finally has fulfilled his promised task - although it had required over 17 years (or around 17,000 hrs.) of his time & dedication to plan, search, interpret, unfold the mysteries, write down & finalize the manuscript, to finally publish it in form of a complete Genealogy-oriented book. He hopes the Reader will appreciate his efforts in finally making the Miranda Family’s saga across the Millenia a tangible & informative reality.
