About the Author

John Glenn earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado and an M.A. in Biblical Studies from the Independent Baptist College in Dallas, Texas. After pastoring churches in Colorado, he moved to Florida in 1988 settling in and around the ranching communities of Indiantown and Okeechobee; pastoring and teaching there. In the early 1990’s he wrote the biblical self-awareness series of lessons titled “The Alpha Series”, and founded Alpha Ministries, Inc., a non-profi t organization with a focus on discipleship, personal spiritual growth, recovery from various forms of addiction, and ministry training. In the early 2000’s he established a training and retreat center on a small working cattle ranch, which he named “Freedom Ranch” in Okeechobee. The ranch hosts a gathering known as “Church in the Woods” at an open-air pavilion on Sunday mornings where folks can worship and learn the gospel in a relaxed and peaceful environment. John continued to teach, write, counsel, and pastor until his passing in June of 2024. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sandi, daughter Angela, son-in-law Elton and grandsons Leo and John Lawton, all of whom live at “Freedom Ranch”.
