About the Author

Dr. Alex Tang is a scholar with a wealth of experience in the finance sector spanning over three decades. Holding degrees in B.Sc, M.Phil, and DBA, he has made significant contributions as the head of research almost throughout his career. Beginning in 1980, he worked for several large companies such as China Light & Power, the HK Productivity Center, Levesque Securities, Dao Heng Securities, Yamaichi Securities, and the Core Pacific-Yamaichi International. Notably, he is credited with coining the terms ‘Red Chips’ and ‘Red Chip Index’ in 1992. Upon retiring from his finance role, Dr. Tang embarked on a new journey, dedicating a full decade to imparting his extensive knowledge as a part-time lecturer at HK Baptist University. His focus on technical analysis has greatly benefited students seeking to understand this complex field. One of Dr. Tang's most recent works is the publication of the book titled "Essentials of Technical Analysis," which serves as an undergraduate-level textbook, further solidifying his commitment to education. Currently, Dr. Tang and his wife have made Vancouver, Canada, their home. In this vibrant city, he remains actively involved with the Pacific Grace MB Church, conveniently situated on 1st Avenue East. Dr. Tang's family is as accomplished as he is. His son holds the esteemed position of a professor of English in the United States, showcasing a strong academic lineage. Meanwhile, his daughter thrives in the tech industry, adding to the family's diverse and impressive achievements.
