As much as I want to “go and love others,” I must know who I am in Christ to share His love with them honestly. When I receive my gift, I have to not only unwrap it, but I also have to use it to learn what He says about me and my identity in Him. I’ve learned that our purpose is wrapped up in the gift of grace that God has placed within us. It is our job to unwrap it and see what He has in store for our lives. Knowing who we are in Christ, understanding His truth, and letting it soak into our hearts will help us to bear natural fruit - not just any kind of fruit, but a sweet and lasting fruit that makes an eternal impact on our lives and in the lives of those around us. By deepening our relationship with Him, our true identity emerges from the depths of His love that resides within us. We accept it, believing and trusting that His plan for us will be full of joy, grace, forgiveness, compassion, and ultimately a richness of bearing much fruit for His kingdom! To bear fruit from your purpose and find true identity in Christ, you must unwrap the gift of who He has made you to be. Identifying talents, strengths, and possibilities for growth can open the door to using your God-given resources for Kingdom pursuits. Consider taking time alone with God and His Word, reflecting on His promises, and uncovering the depths of who He is calling you to be. True identity in Him will come when we view ourselves through His lens – understanding that bearing good fruits that honor His name pleases Him deeply. Take courage in knowing you have all that you need within you already to fulfill this call, so get out from under the covers and start living an unwrapped life.
