Before retiring, Sylvia was a Salvation Army officer for twenty-five years (vicar). Her work included working with children of all ages, from infants to age three in a toddler group situation; conducting assemblies in schools; and leading children’s meetings in church. Sylvia was also a semi-professional puppeteer which she used in her work with children. She also worked with teenagers in youth groups. Since retiring, she has written for local church magazines and for The War Cry and Salvationist, which are Salvation Army publications. She is also a member of the local writers’ group.
