About the Book

This is a story about a brother and sister who are learning how to exhibit good manners. Replying, “Yes, ma’am” is one way that they practice good manners daily. These siblings witness some not-so-nice behavior from their classmate, five-year-old Steven, who is not showing good manners toward his teacher. When asked a question politely by the teacher, Steven does not answer respectfully. The teacher makes sure that she explains how to practice good manners. Read more to see how Steven responds to his teacher and what his classmates learned about good manners before returning home for the day. This book was written to spark a conversation among adults and children about the meaning of “good manners.” The authors are growing up in a household where they are free to speak and express their opinions while maintaining respect for others. Yes Ma’am aims to help families talk about what that balance looks like and sounds like in their households. “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

About the Author

Kendall and Kerrin Stubbs are a young, vivacious, and spunky duo from Clayton, Delaware who are new to the writing scene. These two youngsters ended the year 2020 sitting at the kitchen table writing the Yes Ma’am manuscript, completing the illustrations, and contacting publishers with their mom. The book was completed a few hours before the countdown. What a way to bring in the new year! Kendall and Kerrin are very close in age, and they share similar interests. Kendall is 4 ½ years old, and Kerrin is 5 ½ years old, making them only one year and one day apart. Their parents always encouraged them to explore their thoughts, dream big, and put their visions down on paper. From an early age, Kendall and Kerrin showed interest in reading and writing, especially in the art of storytelling. Their parents would sit and listen to the siblings talk about their dreams and visions, which were sometimes whimsical in nature. The children’s stories would sound like a well-produced animated movie or an adventurous comic book series. Kendall and Kerrin are extremely excited about their first book, and they look forward to writing the next one.
