Alister looked up from his computer and noticed the lieutenant leave his office and walk across the squad room floor in his direction. When the lieutenant arrived at Alister’s cubicle he said, “A robbery-assault call just came in. Since you and your partner have a comparatively light caseload this month, you get the call.” He handed the call ticket to Alister and returned to his office. Alister Jensen and his partner, Richard Hopkins, had their desks up against opposite walls in their cubicle, so they sat back-to-back. Richard swiveled his chair around and asked, “What did we get?” “The ticket says that a Mr. Dubois was attacked in his apartment this morning and robbed. He returned home from the health clinic at 7:00 AM and telephoned the police,” answered Alister. “Where does he live?” asked Richard. “1204 Third Avenue, Apartment 205,” answered Alister. “Let’s go.” They got their Glock 9 mm’s from their desk drawers, coats from the coat tree, and left the cubicle.

About the Book
A thief enters Caspar DuBois’ apartment at 1 AM through a window off the fire escape. His rummaging through a dresser drawer awakens Casper. A fight ensues in which the thief strikes Casper with a book end and then makes off with a new watch and a silver ring with a green emerald inset. Two detectives, Alister Jensen and Richard Hopkins, are assigned to the case. A police forensics team finds some incriminating evidence on the fire escape. The detectives interview DuBois, canvass the hock shops in Seattle, and then investigate the evidence found on the fire escape.
About the Author
Donald A. Christopherson was a computer programmer in the aerospace industry and the medical research and development industry for thirty years. He taught college mathematics for eight years. Mr. Christopherson received a Bachelor of Science in History from Carroll College, a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, and a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Software Systems from the University of Washington-Bothell.
