About the Book

Sometimes you meet special people in the commonplace. And sometimes you find the same thought, same struggle, same life, same woman - in all the circumstances of an extraordinary life. That is what this book is about. Divided in 5 themes of LOVE, WORK, EMOTIONS, SOCIETY, and WOMEN, this collection of poetry does not contain a heroine. But it contains everyone’s struggles, and everyone’s story, and everyone’s life as I see, as a woman who ruminates and reflects everywhere.

About the Author

Anam Akhter is a young Indian writer and architect living in Washington, DC. This is her second collection of poems after "Pearls", published in India. Her poetic journey started off at 10 years of age with an English school project of trying out rhyming verses - an exercise that ultimately became a path of defining her ownself. More than a decade later, her work is inspired from plain people and simple lives; poems that originate from their emotions and gingerly pluck at their dilemmas. Her work often appears as an emotional commentary that unexpectedly veers off to cold uncomfortable insights. She thus adds a thoughtful, almost scientific flavor to a form of writing that thrives in intense sentiments. When not scuttling around DC - enjoying magical cherry blossoms, writing poems in SoHo Cafe and reciting at Busboys and Poets, she enjoys the less abstract challenges of the building industry and saving up for her dream of owning a horse ranch.
