RAY OF LOVE

The Intro desperate Christian Women Anonymous (dCWA) is a fellowship of women who share their experiences and support each other in desperation recovery. The only requirement to be a part of dCWA is a desire to stop trying to force loving relationships. Our sole purpose is to help each other remain hopeful and active in experiencing lasting romantic love without becoming desperate along the way. Okay, yes, I’m joking. Still the notion of desperate single women is very much real. No, I don’t consider myself desperate, but I can admit that on my journey to experiencing lasting romantic love, I have committed some desperate acts. While this book isn’t about my recovery from those acts, it is a composition of poems and reflections that paint a glimpse of my personal love journey. The poems in this book range from ones written in my early teen years through my twenties. The reflections capture my journey in three parts; my childhood view, my past and present view and my hopes for the future. I liken the three segments to a painting with three dimensions; a background, midground and foreground. Picture Love and Paint it in Words! I was always certain I would never write about any aspect of romantic love for others to read. Yet somehow, here I am. At this juncture in my life, I would characterize myself as a single woman who desires to share life and love in a monogamous relationship; marriage. Still at times, I question the reasons why I’m not already married. Is it that I’m not ready based on some timeframe set by God? Or could it be that my belief in this notion has limited my ability to fully open myself up to love? As much as I try to stay in my lane, sometimes I can’t help but to see other people’s relationships and wonder were they ready? I’m not talking about just any relationships. I am speaking of relationships that are thriving; marriages that have endured challenges and are still going strong. So I’m back to the question at hand. Were they ready? Or were they two people who were open to love, saw lasting qualities in each other, and were willing to do the work it takes to sustain a relationship? My thought is you are as ready for love as you choose to be. Whatever the case, my aim is not to theorize about what makes a person ready, since “ready” is somewhat relative. My aim is to fuel my ability to love more now and to be better prepared for my husband-to-be, when time and chance align before me. My aim is also to encourage you to do the same in your own way. In my personal writing, I pray that you are encouraged and find comfort in knowing that whatever your relationship status, love is in you and always ready to thrive.
