Transformation

“Yes, I’ll have the special,” I smiled at the waitress. “Alright,” she grabbed our menus, “one special, a hamburger, a combo, and an appetizer coming up.” Robbin elbowed Will, “Man, did you see how hot she was?” “Yeah, I totally want to get her number.” Coal rolled his eyes and turned to look out the window. “Do you think that’s smart? Given our current situation?” I sipped my water and turned to look at the waitress. Her hair was raven black and in a messy bun at the nap of her neck. Smooth wispy tendrils surrounded her sharp face. She was slim and on the taller side. I suppose, she could be considered cute, but I didn’t quite see the appeal my brothers did. Will grumbled, “I bet you want her number for yourself, don’t you?” No, I thought. “Yes,” I said. Will had an outburst and Robbin laughed at him. They started getting into a petty fight. I looked down at the table. Wasn’t it odd I didn’t see her the same way? Then again, people have their different preferences. Yet, I was twenty-two. Shouldn’t I start dating and settling down soon? I suppose I never had the time before. Maybe I could somehow find time now. Never mind, that would be a bad idea. Given our circumstances, dating should be the last thing on my mind. Suddenly I heard Robbin shushing Will. I looked up to find the waitress back with our orders. She set down the plates and drinks in front of us. I glared at my brothers who were gawking at her. When she left once more, their gaggling started up again. I ignored them and started to make conversation with Coal when the front door opened up.
