With the help and encouragement of his friend Julie Byrd, he is able to gain the confidence and self-worth he needs to finish his math assignment. About the Author

Monica Maxfield was born in cleveland Ohio. She is a first grade elementary school teacher, a childrens book illustrator, a cartoonist, and an animal advocate. Monica is the proud owner of many hats. She has worked as a caricature artist for the San Diego Zoo, was a diet aide for a local children's hospital, and has voluteered her services as a teacher, educating young cartoonists interested in developing their own ideas for c
