This book is intended to educate everyone and especially the youth who have the dreams of becoming a sailor, seaman, mariner, or seafarer to work aboard a watercraft as part of its crew and may work in any one in a number of different fields that are related to the operation and maintenance of a ship. The book maybe used as preparation guide to assist you succeed before and after shipping to boot camp to help you serve amongst the worlds’ best sailors. The book is written to highlight some of the experiences that people don’t talk about often, especially when it comes to getting separated from the military. The intention is to help all future shippers to the boot camp to go with an open mind—as they say, it is good to have a positive attitude, but make sure you are ready for disaster. Therefore, it is always good to have a fallback plan to help you figure out what to do when things don’t go as planned.
About the Author
Joseph Omollo Otieno was born in Kenya, Africa approximately 37 years ago. He holds a Bachelor of Education Science degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, with a Major in Computer Science, and a Minor in Business. He was also a lecturer for ten years, teaching computer studies to prospective teacher trainees. He has worked in various places as a technical support specialist, and with Microsoft (Tek Experts) as a Critical Situation Manager. He was also privileged to enlist with the United States Navy but got separated during training on medical grounds. He is also a husband as well as a loving father to a son.
