About the Book
It had been funny when Evaine was six. It had made her feel special when she was ten and eleven, this being called a chime child because she had been born past midnight on a Friday, born a’fore cock’s crow on a Saturday. It was said that those so born could see spirits. Evaine often wondered what that would feel like. It took the shock of her hearing from her father that she was to be betrothed to the son of the neighboring baron in order to settle the boundary dispute between them for Evaine to see the spirit that would lead her to overhear the real reason the betrothal had been proposed.
